Our success
Consistent and innovative, simple and versatile, classic and modern. At JAKA-BKL, we have been combining all of these qualities in our furniture and our work for over 50 years.
After being founded in 1971 by Jan Pieter Poulssen (JA) and Karsten Müller (KA), we initially produced wardrobes for the Dutch market at our site in Stemwede-Wehdem, Germany. Following phases of dynamic development in the ownership structure, 2013 was a special year for us. On 1 May 2013, JAKA-BKL GmbH was founded and took over the successful OPTIFIT and MARLIN brands from Poggenpohl under one roof. In 2024, the decision was made to part with the MARLIN brand and concentrate on the production of flat-pack kitchen and bathroom furniture under the OPTIFIT brand in the lower to medium price segment.
OPTIFIT stands for ‘optimal fitting’ – furniture perfectly tailored to you. Innovative and optimised, our extensive range offers enormous variety for every individual requirement. From practical kitchen units to complex fitted kitchens and flexible bathroom furniture: you will find the right feel-good furniture for every room situation.

Sustainability
Tested and certified multiple times
Healthy for people and the environment – this is something we value greatly. That is why we have been certified multiple times.
Back in 1999, we introduced an environmental management system that reviews our operational processes with regard to environmental aspects and sets environmental targets for these aspects. The environmental management system meets the requirements of DIN EN ISO 14001:2015 and is monitored by an annual audit. Our quality management system, which is certified in accordance with DIN ISO 9001:2015, is also reviewed by an annual audit. The application of these two management systems not only controls the quality of our products and operational processes, but also increases resource efficiency.
In 2025, a large number of our components were also comprehensively tested for emissions, and JAKA-BKL GmbH was awarded the german eco-label Blauer Engel by RAL gGmbH. This confirms that we meet the high requirements of the Blauer Engel and that our low-emission furniture is particularly environmentally friendly. For low pollutant emissions, a healthy indoor climate and resource-saving materials.
Packaging – OPTIFIT says goodbye to polystyrene
Responsible in every way – that's what we value. That's why the Blue Angel is not the end of the story. The award of the eco-label was followed by the start of the switch to polystyrene-free packaging. From 2026, bathroom and kitchen furniture will be delivered to you largely without polystyrene.
Circular thinking – timeless design
Materials – furniture – packaging: for us, this is not a single process, but a cycle.
That's why our furniture is not only made from low-emission materials, but can also be dismantled homogeneously and sorted by type thanks to the use of detachable connections such as screw and plug-in systems. Dismantling is based on the existing assembly instructions and is simply carried out in reverse order. Spare parts are available for at least five years to support long product use and resource conservation. This has many advantages. The product is easy to repair, elements can be easily recycled, and by simply replacing individual components, we give the furniture a second life. In addition, our furniture is packaged in cardboard boxes made from 85% recycled material, which can be fully recycled.
